Data Analytics Course
Hi. My name is Ryan. I am working as a Business Intelligence Analyst at Shopee. Prior to this course, I had no prior working experience or formal education in Data Analytics. The EdUp course provided me with a strong technical foundation to bridge the skills gaps I face at work.
Why did you choose to take up EdUp’s Data Analytics course?
I majored in Accounting at University, with a core focus in Corporate Accounting. Upon graduation, I worked as an auditor. I decided to pursue a Data Analytics course because of my growing interest in this field. To be able to understand and make sense of Data is something I find extra meaningful. I was also drawn to the growing industry prospects and job opportunities.
The EdUp Data Analytics course was conducted 100% online and via Zoom, outside of working hours tailored to working adults. This made it very convenient for me to learn while I was working full-time. There is also funding support available which helps to ease the financial aspect of things.

The course focused on core data skills like SQL, Python, and Tableau, which are highly relevant to the skills that are required in most data analytics roles, such as the one I am in right now.
My instructor as well as the other teaching assistants were very supportive. They took time to clarify any concepts or answer any questions regardless of whether it was relating to the course material, capstone project, or generic industry-related questions.
How has the course helped you bridge your skills gap at work?
Without any prior background, I am now equipped with a strong foundation in using SQL, and Python for data analytics which greatly facilitated my transition from the auditing function to the Data Analytics field.
One recent accomplishment was when I helped develop download boards using SQL. This enables the different teams and stakeholders to retrieve data easily and intuitively. This increased my visibility at work and gained the recognition of my managers.
